TVK Coordinator Sengottaiyan Highlights Vijay's Popularity as Catalyst for Political Shift in Tamil Nadu
In a significant statement from Erode, K A Sengottaiyan, the chief coordinator of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), declared on Friday that the overwhelming public turnout at election campaigns for party president Vijay demonstrates a clear acceptance by the people and a growing desire for political transformation in Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that such massive gatherings are unprecedented for any leader in the country, drawing a direct comparison to the legendary popularity of the late chief minister M G Ramachandran.
Confidence in Vijay's Leadership and Security Concerns
Speaking to reporters during a campaign event in Vellalapalayam near Gobichettipalayam, Sengottaiyan expressed unwavering confidence that Vijay will ascend to the position of chief minister following the upcoming assembly election. He cited Vijay's recent tour in Trichy as evidence of his dedication, noting that despite security apprehensions, Vijay disembarked from his bus to personally engage with the public. Sengottaiyan criticized the ruling DMK government for allegedly failing to provide sufficient security measures for TVK meetings, accusing them of negligence.
Promises of Administrative Reforms and Environmental Protection
Outlining key policy initiatives, Sengottaiyan pledged that if Vijay assumes power, a new district will be established with Gobichettipalayam as its headquarters. He revealed that 100 acres of land are already prepared, enabling the immediate construction of government offices without additional financial burden. This move, he stated, addresses a long-standing demand from the region, with previous efforts during 2016–17 having been postponed.
Additionally, Sengottaiyan highlighted the party's commitment to environmental conservation, announcing that permission for a proposed dyeing unit on the banks of the Bhavani river in the Kodiveri area has been withdrawn. He attributed this success to the concerted efforts of TVK alongside leaders from farmers' associations, reaffirming the party's dedication to safeguarding the Bhavani river from industrial pollution.
The statements underscore TVK's strategic focus on leveraging Vijay's grassroots appeal to challenge the existing political landscape, while promising tangible administrative changes and ecological stewardship as core components of their electoral platform.
