Vice-chairperson Radhika Varma presented the detailed financial plan, which outlines a transformative roadmap for the region's growth.

Financial Projections and Development Allocation

The municipality projects a total expected income exceeding Rs 100 crore for the upcoming fiscal year, with planned expenditures of Rs 70 crore. This leaves a substantial Rs 32 crore specifically allocated for development initiatives across various sectors, demonstrating the local body's commitment to comprehensive urban improvement.

Major Infrastructure and Transportation Projects

A key highlight of the budget is the proposed construction of a new bus terminal near Tripunithura railway station, designed to improve public transportation connectivity. Additionally, the Metro Road connecting SN Junction to Hill Palace Road will be significantly widened to 22 meters, with an allocation of Rs 10 crore for this crucial infrastructure upgrade.

The municipality plans to introduce feeder bus services to key destinations including Kakkanad, while also renovating the existing bus stand comfort station and installing an air-conditioned dormitory for commuter convenience.

Healthcare Infrastructure Enhancement

The budget includes substantial healthcare investments, featuring a new three-storey building at Taluk Hospital to expand medical facilities. A Rs 10 lakh rest centre for patient attendants will be established, along with a Rs 50 lakh advanced diagnostic hub offering affordable CT, MRI, and ultrasound services to residents.

Furthermore, the municipality will provide medicines worth Rs 20 lakh to patients with serious illnesses and launch a dedicated palliative care centre to support those with chronic conditions.

Cultural, Tourism, and Recreational Development

The historic Athachamayam festival is set to be elevated into an international cultural event, with the local body allocating Rs 1 crore for establishing a Centre for Performing Arts and Museum to preserve regional heritage.

Tourism projects include developing a scenic walkway from Iron Bridge to Peta Bridge, renovating the surroundings of Poornathrayeesa Temple, and creating enhanced boating facilities to attract visitors.

For sports and recreation, the budget allocates Rs 2 crore each for new grounds in Tripunithura South and Eroor, plus funding for an indoor stadium to promote athletic activities.

Environmental and Urban Management Initiatives

Waste management receives significant attention with a Rs 2 crore material collection facility, an inorganic waste processing plant, and a septage treatment unit to improve sanitation and environmental sustainability.

The municipality's development roadmap also includes cultural and green initiatives, housing projects for the homeless, solar energy installations, and a comprehensive master plan to guide future growth in an organized manner.

This ambitious budget reflects Tripunithura municipality's holistic approach to urban development, balancing immediate needs with long-term strategic planning across multiple sectors that directly impact residents' quality of life.
