Temple Caretaker Murdered in Ranchi, Three Arrested

A 55-year-old caretaker of the Jagannathpur temple in Dhurwa, Ranchi, was discovered dead in a pool of blood on the temple campus on Friday. By evening, police sources confirmed that at least three individuals, all locals known to the victim, had been arrested on charges of murder.

Details of the Incident

The victim, identified as Birsa Munda, was found dead in the morning. Senior police officials, along with a forensic team and a dog squad, promptly arrived at the scene to investigate.

Police Investigation

Ranchi SSP Rakesh Ranjan stated, “Many entry routes are open since construction is underway. The assailants might have entered through those routes and killed him. After murdering him, the miscreant stole money from one of the temple’s donation boxes and left the temple premises.”

Police sources indicated that a group of men from Jagannathpur had been apprehended. “One of them struck Munda with an iron rod when he saw them, leading to his death. Their details will be revealed on Saturday,” an official said, requesting anonymity.
