The National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on Thursday accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of interfering in university affairs and staged a protest by presenting an RSS uniform to the vice-chancellor outside her office.
NSUI Alleges Favoritism
NSUI students have accused the vice-chancellor of favoring the RSS and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in campus events. A video of the incident, where NSUI functionaries attempted to block the vice-chancellor's vehicle, went viral on social media on Friday.
Student Leader's Statement
Manish Meghvanshi, NSUI unit president for Rajasthan University, stated, “We approached the vice-chancellor to discuss several student-related issues, but none were addressed. For the past few months, we have been noticing that RSS-related events are being organized in the university, while students' welfare issues are being ignored.” He added, “The university administration is adopting a biased attitude. We will not let the university's environment get disturbed like this and will protest against it.”
Upcoming Convocation
Rajasthan University is set to hold its 35th convocation ceremony on Saturday, where Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will address the students. While NSUI functionaries and other independent student leaders have not announced any protest during the convocation, they are likely to stage a demonstration later during a youth festival event.
The incident has sparked discussions about the role of political organizations in educational institutions and the need for impartial administration.
