Telangana Government Prioritizes Welfare of Singareni Workers, Says Deputy CM

In a significant announcement from Hyderabad, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has reaffirmed the Congress government's commitment to enhancing the welfare of Singareni workers. Speaking on Tuesday, he detailed a series of initiatives implemented over the past two years aimed at improving the lives of these employees, with a focus on medical, financial, and housing benefits.

Comprehensive Welfare Measures for Singareni Employees

Vikramarka emphasized that the government has initiated several welfare measures for Singareni workers, including medical invalidation and other key benefits such as insurance coverage. He assured that issues related to the change of names of Singareni employees would be resolved promptly, demonstrating the administration's responsiveness to worker concerns.

Regarding medical invalidation, the deputy CM provided reassurance that all matters concerning workers' ailments would be addressed efficiently by the relevant medical boards. This move is part of a broader effort to ensure that Singareni workers receive equitable treatment and support in line with industry standards.

Committees and Housing Support for Workers

In accordance with Coal India norms, the government plans to establish a committee to ensure that Singareni workers receive the same facilities as officers, including tax-related benefits. This initiative aims to bridge gaps in employee welfare and promote fairness across the organization.

To help fulfill the dream of Singareni employees to own a home, Vikramarka announced that the government will provide housing support as recommended by the IFoRE committee. This step is expected to significantly improve the quality of life for workers and their families, offering them stability and security.

Unprecedented Insurance and Profit-Sharing Benefits

The deputy CM highlighted an accident insurance cover of ₹1.25 crore provided to all Singareni employees, which he described as unprecedented anywhere in the country. This scheme has been recognized nationwide as a model for employee welfare, setting a benchmark for other industries.

Additionally, a free accident insurance scheme of ₹40 lakh has been issued to the 30,000 contract workers employed by Singareni, ensuring that even temporary staff are protected under comprehensive safety nets.

Record Profits and Worker Compensation

In the 2024–25 financial year, Singareni recorded its highest ever profits, amounting to ₹6,394 crore. Of this impressive sum, ₹802 crore (34%) was distributed to workers as a profit share, reflecting the government's commitment to rewarding employee contributions.

Vikramarka added that an additional profit share of ₹5,500 was paid to outsourced service personnel, further extending the benefits of the company's financial success to a broader workforce. These measures underscore the Congress government's focus on prioritizing worker welfare and ensuring that economic gains are shared equitably among all employees.
