Hyderabad: In a significant administrative move, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy is poised to announce a comprehensive list of nominees for various state and district-level posts that have remained vacant for an extended period. According to sources within the ruling Congress party, the preliminary groundwork has been finalized, and the announcements are awaiting the final green signal from the party's central leadership.
Final Scrutiny and High Command Approval Awaited
The selection process for these nominated positions has been rigorous, involving multiple rounds of careful examination. Lists were initially submitted by the district in-charge ministers, which then underwent intense scrutiny. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, held several meetings to shortlist eligible candidates from the pool of party workers and leaders. A final roster has been prepared and is now ready for the last stage of approval.
Before giving his final consent, CM Revanth Reddy is expected to discuss the finalized list with AICC general secretary KC Venugopal. The chief minister is scheduled to travel to Delhi to attend the Congress Working Committee meeting on December 27. It is during this visit that he is anticipated to hold the crucial consultations with the party high command. The official announcement of the nominated posts is most likely to be made public after his return from the national capital.
Comprehensive Appointments and Legislative Preparations
In a bid to streamline governance, the chief minister is considering filling both state-level and district-level positions simultaneously. These posts include various chairpersons and directors across corporations and boards. Sources indicate there is a strong possibility that all pending nominated posts will be announced in one go during this current phase, bringing clarity and filling administrative gaps.
Parallel to this, Revanth Reddy is also gearing up for the upcoming legislative business. He is preparing to hold meetings with the party's Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) ahead of the winter session of the state assembly, which is scheduled to commence on December 29. A Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting is expected to be convened on January 1 or 2 to brief and guide the MLAs on the session's agenda and party strategy.
Review of Sarpanch Election Performance
Another critical issue likely to be addressed in the upcoming CLP meeting is the party's performance in the recent sarpanch (village council head) elections. While Congress-backed candidates secured victories in over 65% of villages statewide, the party's performance was below expectations in 18 specific assembly constituencies, where the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) performed better.
The chief minister is said to be reviewing the reasons behind this underperformance, with a particular focus on the impact of rebel candidates contesting against the official party-backed nominees. This analysis and the strategies to counter such challenges in future local body polls are expected to be key discussion points when the CM meets with the MLAs. The move underscores the administration's focus on strengthening the party's grassroots presence alongside filling key administrative roles.
