Telangana Chief Minister Firmly Denies District Reorganization Plans

In a significant political address, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy categorically stated on Sunday that the state government currently has no plans to abolish any existing districts or create new ones. Speaking at an election meeting in Chelpur village near Bhupalpally municipality, the CM dismissed what he termed as false allegations propagated by the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).

Commitment to Democratic Consultation on District Rationalization

Revanth Reddy emphasized that any future rationalization of administrative districts would only proceed after comprehensive public consultation and thorough discussion with all opposition parties in the legislative assembly. "Bhupalpally will continue as a district," he asserted, accusing the BRS of attempting to derive political mileage during the ongoing municipal elections through misinformation campaigns.

Appeal for Congress Support in Municipal Elections

The Chief Minister made a direct appeal to voters, urging them to support Congress candidates in the municipal polls. He argued that neither Prime Minister Narendra Modi nor former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao would address local civic issues in community bylanes. "Electing Congress candidates is crucial for development works to be implemented effectively," Revanth stated, adding that BRS or BJP councilors would not collaborate with Congress MLAs or his administration.

Assurance on Compassionate Appointments and Worker Welfare

Addressing concerns among Singareni Collieries workers, the CM firmly rejected BRS claims about abolishing compassionate appointments based on medical board reports. "This government will continue compassionate appointments and find solutions for 217 dismissed Singareni workers," he promised, reminding the audience that Congress came to power with significant support from mining workers and their families.

Substantial Development Funding Announced

Revanth Reddy unveiled ambitious development plans, including:

  • Allocation of approximately Rs 4,000 crore for temple renovations, ghat development, and tourism infrastructure along the Godavari river, particularly in coal belt areas, in preparation for the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams.
  • Sanction of Rs 17,442 crore to urban local bodies across Telangana, with Rs 6,116 crore specifically allocated to the combined Warangal district.
  • Approval of lakhs of additional Indiramma houses starting from April, while accusing the previous BRS government of failing to deliver promised 2-BHK units to the poor.

Serious Allegations Against BRS Leadership

The Chief Minister launched scathing accusations against BRS leaders, alleging:

  1. That K Chandrasekhar Rao, KT Rama Rao, and T Harish Rao are conspiring to help BJP win the February 11 municipal elections to avoid questioning and potential arrest by investigative agencies in the Kaleshwaram fraud and Formula E-race cases.
  2. That despite six months having passed since the Kaleshwaram case was transferred to the CBI, no questioning of KCR or Harish Rao has occurred, with KTR similarly avoiding interrogation in the Formula E-race matter.
  3. That Prime Minister Modi and Union Minister G Kishan Reddy are protecting BRS leaders, with Modi having previously described the Kaleshwaram project as "an ATM for the KCR family" yet preventing their arrest.

Comparison with Central Agency Actions

Revanth Reddy drew parallels with central investigative actions, stating that if the CBI and ED could be utilized to harass Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the same agencies should question or arrest KCR, Harish Rao, and KTR. He further alleged that BRS had obtained approximately Rs 1,500 crore through electoral bonds by blackmailing business persons and industrialists, citing BJP MP Konda Vishweshwar Reddy's statements on the matter.

Spiritual Engagement and Temple Renovation

Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, where renovation works worth Rs 12.15 crore are currently underway. This visit underscored the government's commitment to religious and cultural infrastructure development alongside its political and administrative agenda.
