Telangana BJP's Civic Manifesto: Tax Freeze, Clean Cities

Telangana BJP Unveils Civic Manifesto for Urban Local Body Elections

In a significant move ahead of the upcoming urban local body elections, the Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially released its comprehensive civic manifesto. The document, titled 'Viksit Telangana: BJP Sankalp Patra 2026', outlines a detailed vision for transforming municipalities and municipal corporations across the state.

Key Promises: Tax Freeze and Urban Cleanliness

The manifesto makes a bold commitment to freeze all local taxes, assuring citizens that there will be no increase in any taxes, including house tax. This pledge aims to provide financial relief to urban residents while addressing pressing urban challenges.

To tackle persistent urban problems, the BJP has promised a multi-faceted approach:

  • 100% garbage segregation to improve waste management
  • Expansion of underground sewerage networks for better sanitation
  • Measures to control mosquitoes, stray pigs, monkeys, and dogs
  • Strengthening of SHE Teams across all urban local bodies for women's safety

Governance Reforms and Infrastructure Development

BJP state president N Ramchander Rao, while releasing the manifesto, emphasized the party's commitment to corruption-free governance and efficient service delivery. The document promises:

  1. Building permits cleared within one week through an online single-window system
  2. Use of artificial intelligence to curb corruption in administrative processes
  3. Upgrades to local community health centers for better healthcare access
  4. Creation of multi-purpose parks in every urban body
  5. Establishment of skill development hubs and regular job fairs

Protection of Religious Properties and Political Allegations

The manifesto also addresses cultural and administrative concerns, including protection of temple lands and removal of encroachments. During a campaign meeting in Narsapur, Medak district, Rao made serious allegations against political rivals.

Rao claimed there was an 'undisclosed agreement' between the BRS and Congress regarding the slow pace of investigations into two significant cases:

  • The phone tapping case
  • The Kaleshwaram project lapses case

The BJP leader called for a CBI takeover of the entire case, alleging that current scrutiny was limited to only three barrages and demanding a more comprehensive investigation.

Vision for Modern Urban Transformation

The manifesto charts a comprehensive roadmap to transform towns and cities into modern urban spaces through:

  • Better infrastructure development
  • Improved public services
  • Enhanced employment opportunities
  • Advanced healthcare facilities
  • Effective utilization of Finance Commission grants

This civic manifesto represents the BJP's ambitious plan to address urban challenges while promising efficient, transparent governance if voted to power in the upcoming urban local body elections across Telangana.
