Political Leader Faces Security Concerns During Election Season
In a concerning development during the heated Bihar election season, Janshakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav disclosed on Sunday that his security protection has been significantly enhanced following what he described as credible death threats against him.
The political leader, who happens to be the estranged son of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) stalwart Lalu Prasad Yadav, made this revelation during a press interaction with journalists in Patna. Tej Pratap explicitly stated that multiple enemies are actively working to eliminate him, prompting the security upgrade.
Direct Quotes on Life Threat
"My security has been increased because there is a threat to my life. People will get me killed. There are many enemies who are working to get me killed," Yadav told reporters with visible concern in his voice.
This security alert comes at a politically sensitive time, with the second phase of the crucial Bihar elections 2025 scheduled to occur within days. The timing raises questions about potential political motivations behind the alleged threats.
Electoral Background and Family Dynamics
Tej Pratap recently contested the Bihar assembly polls from the Mahua constituency, where voting concluded on November 6 during the first phase of elections. His political journey took a dramatic turn when he was expelled from his father's party, RJD, on May 25 for a six-year period.
The expulsion occurred just one day after he reportedly acknowledged being 'in a relationship' with a woman through social media channels. Although he later removed the post and claimed his account had been hacked, the damage was already done. Lalu Prasad Yadav publicly disowned his son citing "irresponsible behaviour" as the primary reason.
Despite the family and political rift, Tej Pratap demonstrated familial affection by extending birthday wishes to his younger brother Tejashwi Yadav, who turned 36 on the same day. "It's Tejashwi's birthday, and I give him my best wishes. Hope he has a bright future. He has my blessings," the JJD leader stated.
New Political Party and Electoral Confidence
Following his removal from RJD, Tej Pratap established his own political entity, Janshakti Janata Dal, and entered the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 under this new banner from Mahua. The electoral battle placed him against significant opponents including National Democratic Alliance's Sanjay Kumar Singh from Lok Janshanti Party (Ram Vilas) and Jan Suraaj's Indrajeet Pradhan.
Adding to the family drama, his former party RJD fielded Mukesh Kumar Raushan directly against him in the constituency. Despite these challenges, on November 6, polling day for the first phase, Tej Pratap expressed strong confidence about his electoral prospects.
"I am fully confident. I have the blessings of my parents and the public," the JJD leader informed ANI. He further elaborated to PTI Videos, "I am confident the people of Mahua will bless me again. Why won't they? I have worked for them, and they know it."
As Bihar prepares for the second phase of elections covering 122 Assembly constituencies on November 11, all eyes remain on both the security situation surrounding Tej Pratap Yadav and the eventual election results scheduled for declaration on November 14.
