Surat Police Implements One-Way & Heavy Vehicle Ban for Smooth Suvali Beach Festival
Surat's Traffic Plan for Suvali Beach Festival Jan 9-11

In a proactive move to ensure smooth traffic flow, the Surat police have unveiled a comprehensive plan for the upcoming three-day Suvali Beach Festival. The festival, set to commence on January 9, will see significant traffic regulations, including one-way declarations on key roads and a ban on heavy vehicles on specific routes during evening hours.

Detailed Traffic Diversions and Bans

The authorities, learning from the traffic snarls that plagued last year's event, have charted specific routes. From January 9 to 11, the road stretching from Ichhapore Crossroads to Mora Three Roads, leading to L&T Gate-2 and finally Suvali, will be strictly one-way. Similarly, the return route from Suvali to Mora village and onto the Ichhapore road will also function as a one-way corridor.

Furthermore, to decongest the area, heavy vehicles will be prohibited on two crucial stretches: from ONGC Circle to Hazira and from Mora Three Roads to Mora-Suvali Road. This ban will be enforced daily from 4 pm to 11 pm across all three festival days.

Enhanced Visitor Facilities and Infrastructure

Choryasi MLA Sandip Desai highlighted the extensive preparations made this year. The focus has been on minimizing public inconvenience through better planning. Five large, fully illuminated parking areas have been established, all equipped with toilet facilities. Special arrangements include golf carts to ferry senior citizens from the parking lots to the beachfront, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.

Desai expressed optimism that these upgraded facilities at Suvali Beach would help distribute the visitor load, providing a much-needed alternative to the perennially crowded Dumas Beach during festive periods and weekends.

Festival Inauguration and Cultural Line-Up

The festival will be inaugurated in the presence of notable dignitaries, including Union Minister C R Paatil, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, and state ministers Kanu Desai, Praful Panseriya, and Jayram Gamit. The cultural extravaganza promises vibrant performances by renowned folk artists such as Osman Mir and Amir Mir, alongside Bhumi Trivedi and Santvani Trivedi. A variety of other programs and arrangements are also in place to entertain the expected large influx of visitors from Surat and beyond.
