Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has categorically ruled out the possibility of forming a coalition government in the state, addressing suggestions that have been voiced by Congress leaders ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. The CM made these decisive remarks during a session organized by a media house in Chennai on Wednesday.
"Sharing Power Will Not Suit Tamil Nadu"
In a clear and unequivocal statement, Stalin asserted, "Sharing power will not suit Tamil Nadu." He elaborated that both the Congress and his own party, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), are fully aware that power-sharing arrangements would not be effective in the state's political environment. However, the CM noted that some individuals are attempting to create divisions between the two allied parties by pushing this narrative.
Alliance with Congress to Continue Despite Differences
Despite his firm stance against a coalition government, Stalin emphasized that the DMK's alliance with the Congress party will remain intact. "Some are trying to break the alliance, but it will not happen. We will face the elections together," he declared, reaffirming the commitment to their political partnership. Personal Bond with Rahul Gandhi Transcends Politics
The Chief Minister also took the opportunity to praise Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, highlighting their personal relationship that goes beyond political considerations. "Rahul sees me like his brother. We share a lot apart from politics," Stalin revealed, suggesting a deep mutual respect and camaraderie that strengthens their alliance despite occasional policy disagreements.

In response to Stalin's remarks, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) chief K Selvaperunthagai stated that while the CM has expressed his opinion on the matter, any final decision regarding the alliance structure would be made jointly by Rahul Gandhi and Stalin. Meanwhile, Congress MP Manickam Tagore took to social media platform X to assert that "people of Tamil Nadu will decide whether the state wants a coalition government or not."
