Union Minister Sonowal Calls on Assamese Youth to Champion State's Identity and Security
In a powerful address at a youth convention in Dibrugarh, Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal underscored the critical role of Assamese youth in fortifying the state against infiltration while preserving its unique cultural heritage and bolstering national security.
Cultivating Discipline and Purpose to Shape History
Speaking at the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha event in Tingkhong, Dibrugarh, Sonowal articulated that the collective energy of young people, when harnessed with discipline and clear purpose, holds the transformative power to influence historical outcomes. "When the inherent qualities within the youth are unified, it generates tremendous energy. From this energy emerges the determination to achieve greatness on a global scale," Sonowal declared before an assembly of senior BJP leaders, party officials, and youth delegates.
Aligning with India's Amrit Kaal Vision for 2047
The Union minister highlighted India's international reputation as a nation driven by its youthful demographic. He challenged the youth of Assam to elevate their capabilities to match those in developed nations. "In this competitive age dominated by science and technology, our young generation must advance shoulder-to-shoulder with youth from developed countries. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Amrit Kaal vision, India is poised to become one of the world's foremost economies by 2047. Our youth are indispensable in turning this ambition into reality," Sonowal emphasized.
Protecting Indigenous Heritage and Drawing Historical Inspiration
Sonowal passionately urged the youth to remain steadfast in defending Assam's indigenous communities, cultural traditions, land, heritage, and language. He invoked the legacy of the legendary Ahom general Lachit Borphukan as a source of inspiration. "Just as Lachit Borphukan demonstrated exceptional valor to protect our civilization, today's Assamese youth must showcase their abilities and establish their excellence internationally," he stated, drawing a parallel between historical and contemporary challenges.
Utilizing Government Schemes and Resources for Development
The minister encouraged young people to proactively engage with government initiatives designed for youth empowerment, while maintaining a focus on discipline, sincerity, and dedication. He pointed to Assam's abundant natural, forest, water, and human resources as key assets. "If strategically utilized, these resources can propel Assam toward unprecedented levels of development and prosperity," Sonowal asserted.
Addressing National Security and Political Allegations
Sonowal accused the Congress party of historically enabling infiltration into Assam and called for continued vigilance on national security matters. Referencing allegations against Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi regarding purported connections to Pakistan, Sonowal remarked, "Gaurav Gogoi must now prove his innocence. Any person implicated in plots against the nation warrants unequivocal condemnation. The Government of India will not tolerate any forces acting against the country's interests."
Appeal Against Substance Abuse and for Historical Preservation
Concluding his address, the Union minister appealed to the youth to reject substance abuse and actively preserve Assam's illustrious history for future generations. He reinforced that a robust work ethic and cultural pride are essential in the ongoing struggle to secure Assam's identity and contribute to India's growth trajectory.
