Shiv Sena's Nashik Leader Praveen Tidem Voices Strong Resentment Over Deputy Mayor Appointment
In a significant development within Maharashtra's political landscape, Shiv Sena city unit chief Praveen Tidme has publicly expressed his deep resentment and disappointment over being overlooked for the crucial post of deputy mayor in Nashik. The veteran leader's emotional outburst follows the party leadership's controversial decision to appoint Vilas Shinde to the coveted position, despite Shinde having joined the party only in June 2025.
Long-Time Loyalist Questions Party's Reward System
Praveen Tidme, who has served as a dedicated loyalist for many years, made a passionate case for his contributions during the party's most challenging periods. "Without a second thought, I stood firmly by Eknath Shinde during the party's most turbulent phase following the split from the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction," Tidme asserted during an emotional statement.
The Nashik leader elaborated on his extensive ground work, revealing: "I personally met and persuaded a substantial number of Shiv Sainiks from the UBT faction to join our ranks. Whether it was the Lok Sabha or Vidhan Sabha elections, I consistently led from the front and worked relentlessly, regardless of who the candidate happened to be. I followed every party order without question."
Substantial Administrative Contributions Highlighted
Tidme further emphasized his administrative accomplishments during his tenure as city chief, claiming to have facilitated development projects worth over Rs 300 crore for Nashik through Urban Development Department funds. He stressed that these infrastructure works benefited the entire city comprehensively, rather than being limited to his own ward alone.
"Today, I am forced to conclude that genuine loyalty is no longer valued within the Shiv Sena organization," Tidme remarked with evident frustration. "Instead, those who bargain for positions and special favors before joining are being systematically rewarded." This pointed comment appeared to target leaders who migrated from Shiv Sena (UBT) only after negotiating specific terms and conditions.
Warning About Growing Discontent Among Party Workers
The overlooked leader issued a stern warning about the potential consequences of sidelining dedicated party workers who have built the organization from grassroots levels. Tidme cautioned that favoring what he termed "bargain recruits" over honest, long-serving members has generated "intense discontent" among the rank and file of the party.
This development highlights emerging tensions within the Shiv Sena's organizational structure in Nashik, raising questions about reward mechanisms and recognition for loyal service versus political expediency in appointments to significant municipal positions.
