Shimla Police have apprehended the alleged mastermind of a heroin supply network, uncovering financial transactions amounting to approximately Rs 1.25 crore linked to the illicit operation over the past three months.
Arrest and Investigation
The arrest originated from an FIR registered at the Boileauganj police station following the seizure of about seven grams of heroin from Avinash Chauhan in April. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two suspects from Bihar, identified as Vishal Yadav and Jai Prakash Yadav.
Police traced the supply chain to Ravi Ahirwar (21), a resident of Faridabad, who was taken into custody during the probe. According to investigators, Ahirwar had been supplying heroin consignments to Himachal Pradesh since 2025, employing ingenious concealment methods.
Modus Operandi
The accused concealed the contraband in milk packets and Kurkure snack packets, using hidden drop points near ISBT Tutikandi in Shimla to avoid detection. Digital evidence recovered during the investigation revealed transactions worth nearly Rs 1.25 crore within the network over the last three months.
Broader Crackdown
Shimla Police stated they have recovered 2 kg of heroin so far this year, arrested 48 individuals through backward-linkage investigations, and dismantled 37 drug supply networks. This operation marks a significant step in curbing the drug menace in the region.
