APCC Chief Sharmila Reddy Alleges Uncle Murdered for Kadapa MP Ticket
Sharmila Reddy: Uncle Murdered for Kadapa MP Ticket

APCC President Accuses Brother of Exploiting Uncle's Murder for Political Gain

In a dramatic press conference at Visakhapatnam Airport on Wednesday, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president YS Sharmila Reddy made explosive allegations regarding the murder of her uncle, Vivekananda Reddy. She claimed the killing was directly linked to the Kadapa parliamentary constituency ticket, asserting that Vivekananda Reddy had repeatedly expressed concerns about the suitability of the current MP, Avinash Reddy.

Allegations of Political Murder and Cover-Up

Sharmila Reddy stated that her uncle had confided in her, believing Avinash Reddy was not fit for the Kadapa MP position. "Despite Vivekananda Reddy's repeated attempts to inform Jaganmohan Reddy of this, the ticket was still given to Avinash Reddy," she revealed. She further alleged that Avinash Reddy viewed Vivekananda Reddy as "a thorn in his foot" who needed to be eliminated to secure his political future.

The APCC president accused her brother, Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, of manipulating the investigation for personal benefit. "He became chief minister by utilising Viveka's murder episode," she claimed, adding that after assuming power, he resisted a CBI inquiry despite Vivekananda Reddy's daughter Sunita desperately seeking justice.

Criticism of Investigation and Media Narrative

Sharmila Reddy highlighted that the CBI investigation only proceeded due to court orders, not government initiative. She condemned what she described as a deliberate misinformation campaign, saying, "The media of Jagan claimed that Viveka died due to cardiac arrest. They even tried to fix Sunita's husband as the murderer." She defended Sunita's husband, noting he treated his father-in-law "as his own father."

Brotherly Betrayal and Political Hypocrisy

During her visits to Nakkapalli, Yalamanchili, Vizianagaram, Parvatipuram, and Srikakulam districts, Sharmila Reddy launched a scathing attack on her brother's character. "He has tarnished the meaning of the word 'brother,'" she declared. "There is no need for enemies if we have a person like him as a brother."

She questioned Jaganmohan Reddy's five-year tenure, asking why he failed to resolve the murder case. "He was in power for five years, and why did he not bring the murder case to a conclusion?" she demanded, suggesting the delay served political purposes rather than justice.

The allegations have intensified political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, with Sharmila Reddy positioning herself as a whistleblower against what she portrays as systemic corruption and familial betrayal within the state's ruling establishment.
