A tragic road accident near Ariyanoor village in Salem district on Friday afternoon has resulted in the deaths of eight individuals, including two young children. The collision involved a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus and multiple other vehicles, leaving ten people injured and hospitalized.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the TNSTC bus, which was traveling from Coimbatore to Salem, veered off its lane after the driver reportedly lost control. The vehicle crossed the center median and crashed head-on into oncoming traffic. The bus collided with a goods auto carrying more than ten people who were returning from a function, leading to the catastrophic outcome.
