SAD Secures Major Political Boost in Patti Constituency with Mass Joining

In a significant political development, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has received a substantial boost in the Patti constituency, with hundreds of local leaders and their supporters joining the party. The event, held on Friday, was marked by the presence of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, who addressed a large gathering at Sheron village in Tarn Taran district.

Key Defections from AAP Strengthen SAD's Position

The new joinees included prominent figures such as Sheron sarpanch Avtar Singh Billa and his mother Darshan Kaur, both of whom were previously associated with the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Additionally, Ramandeep Kaur and other Block Samiti members, along with hundreds of their supporters, switched allegiance to SAD. This mass joining is seen as a major setback for AAP in the region and a strategic gain for SAD ahead of future elections.

Badal expressed gratitude to the local leaders for their trust in SAD's policies and programs. He highlighted the enthusiasm of the people, noting that thousands had gathered on short notice, which he interpreted as a strong endorsement of the party's vision. "The fact that thousands of people have congregated here on such short notice shows their enthusiasm towards our party," Badal stated.

Commitment to Border Area Development and Economic Initiatives

During his address, Badal emphasized SAD's commitment to developing border areas, which he claimed have been neglected by the Congress and AAP. He announced that if SAD forms the government in 2027, it will introduce a special industrial package specifically for the border belt. This package aims to attract investment and create job opportunities for local youth.

Badal also pledged to increase compensation for farmers who cultivate land across the barbed wire fence along the Pakistan border, addressing long-standing grievances in the agricultural community. Furthermore, he outlined plans to provide maximum employment to border youth by offering concessions to industrialists setting up units in these areas, with a condition that 75% of jobs be reserved for Punjabis.

Proposal for Skill University to Enhance Youth Employability

In a move to boost skill development, Badal announced that a SAD government would establish a 'Skill University.' This institution would employ experts from the corporate sector to train youth according to industry demands, thereby enhancing their employability and aligning education with market needs. This initiative is part of SAD's broader strategy to address unemployment and economic challenges in Punjab.

Potential Leadership Role for Avtar Singh Billa

According to sources, there is speculation that Avtar Singh Billa, the former AAP sarpanch who joined SAD, might be appointed as the incharge of the Patti constituency. This constituency has historically been represented by Adeshpartap Singh Kairon, Badal's brother-in-law, in multiple terms. Such a move could further consolidate SAD's influence in the area and strengthen its organizational structure.

The mass joining event underscores the dynamic political landscape in Punjab, with SAD positioning itself as a viable alternative to the current ruling parties. As the 2027 elections approach, these developments could have significant implications for voter sentiment and party strategies in the region.
