In preparation for the grand Udupi Paryaya festival, the Karnataka government has initiated a major infrastructure push for the revered temple town. The district minister, Laxmi Hebbalkar, who also holds the portfolio for Women and Child Development, has issued directives for development works estimated at a substantial Rs 6 crore.
Video Conference Drives Urgent Action
The minister chaired a crucial video conference on Tuesday with local legislators and district officials to fast-track the arrangements. Hebbalkar emphasized the critical need for comprehensive planning and execution to host the large number of devotees expected for the religious event. With time being a constraint, she instructed authorities to commence round-the-clock work to meet all deadlines.
Coordinated Efforts and Key Participants
The minister stressed the importance of seamless coordination among all stakeholders to avoid any shortcomings. She specifically instructed officials to work in close tandem with every legislator from the Udupi district to ensure a unified approach.
The high-level meeting saw participation from several key figures, including MLAs V Sunil Kumar, Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Gururaj Gantiholi, and Gurme Suresh Shetty. District Commissioner Swaroopa TK and other senior officials were also present to chart out the actionable plan.
Focus on Road Development and Essential Amenities
The core directive from the minister centered on ensuring all necessary civic and logistical arrangements are in place well before the festival begins. A primary focus area is the development and repair of roads in and around Udupi to facilitate smooth movement of pilgrims and tourists.
The sanctioned funds of Rs 6 crore are earmarked for creating and upgrading this essential infrastructure, aiming to enhance the overall experience for visitors attending the significant religious ceremony.
The proactive steps taken by Minister Hebbalkar and the district administration highlight the government's commitment to supporting major cultural and religious events while boosting local infrastructure for long-term benefit.
