Ranchi Municipal Corp Cracks Down on 100 Major Solid Waste Charge Defaulters
RMC penalises 100 major defaulters for unpaid waste charges

In a decisive move to bolster its solid waste management system and enforce financial accountability, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has initiated a penalty drive against property owners and commercial entities who have failed to pay their mandatory solid waste user charges (SWUC).

List of Major Defaulters Prepared

RMC officials have compiled a list of 100 major defaulters who have not cleared their SWUC dues for the period spanning April 2022 to December 2025. These entities have now been issued formal notices, granting them a final one-week window to settle their outstanding amounts.

The list of significant defaulters prominently features a range of establishments, including:

  • Large residential complexes
  • Hotels and banquet halls
  • Hostels and shopping malls
  • Various other commercial operations

Essential for Service Maintenance

Emphasising the critical nature of these charges, an RMC official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the user fee is fundamental for sustaining efficient solid waste management services across the city. The official warned that strict legal action would be pursued against those who fail to meet the one-week deadline, noting that defaulters have already been given ample time to comply.

Multiple Payment Channels Available

The corporation has clarified that the collection of SWUC across all wards is being managed by a designated agency. To facilitate easy payment, the RMC has outlined several convenient methods for residents and businesses to clear their dues:

Payments can be made online through the RMC's official portal, at a designated counter within the RMC office, or via doorstep collection by contacting the dedicated helpline at 0651-3131001.

This crackdown underscores the civic body's commitment to ensuring a sustainable revenue stream for essential civic services and improving overall urban cleanliness in the state capital.
