Municipal Election Preparations Intensify
Simultaneously, following the chief minister's directives, the Pradesh Election Committee unanimously approved the candidate list finalized by ministers and District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents who constitute the screening committee for municipal elections. B-forms have been officially issued to candidates, with February 3 marking the final submission deadline.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has provided clear instructions to screening committees regarding candidate selection for key positions including mayor, deputy mayor, and chairperson posts. He emphasized that multiple factors must be thoroughly evaluated before finalizing decisions, including:
- Social justice considerations
- Demonstrated party loyalty
- Personal integrity and discipline
- Winnability factor
Local candidates and DCC presidents have received authorization to establish understandings with like-minded political parties based on specific local conditions and requirements. However, it's important to note that no official pre-poll alliances have been announced at the state level by major political parties including Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), or Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
TPCC president Mahesh Goud has made a significant appeal to party members, urging them to withdraw from electoral contests in favor of candidates who have received official B-forms from the party leadership. This move aims to consolidate party efforts and maximize electoral success in the upcoming municipal polls.
