Shiv Sena MLA Denies Video Authenticity, Alleges AI Manipulation
Shiv Sena MLA Kshirsagar has vehemently denied the authenticity of a viral video that purportedly shows him discussing a 'commission' payment. Addressing a news conference on Saturday amid the widespread circulation of the video on social media platforms, Kshirsagar asserted that the footage was artificially generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and featured a dubbed voice to misrepresent his words.
Opposition Figures Targeted in Allegations
The MLA specifically targeted the Opposition, calling out Congress MLC Satej Patil for allegedly orchestrating the dissemination of the manipulated video. Kshirsagar claimed that the video was part of a coordinated effort to tarnish his reputation and disrupt the political landscape in Maharashtra.
According to Kshirsagar, the video was created using advanced AI tools that can superimpose a person's likeness onto fabricated scenarios and alter audio tracks to match the visual content. He urged his supporters and the public not to be misled by such tactics and promised to take legal action against those responsible for the forgery.
Technical Analysis Points to AI Generation
Experts in digital forensics have noted that the video exhibits telltale signs of AI generation, including unnatural facial movements and slight inconsistencies in lip-syncing. The audio track also shows anomalies typical of voice synthesis software. Kshirsagar emphasized that he has never engaged in any discussions about commissions and that the video is a complete fabrication.
Political Context and Reactions
The controversy comes at a time of heightened political tensions in Maharashtra, with parties trading accusations ahead of upcoming local elections. The Shiv Sena has rallied behind Kshirsagar, condemning the use of deepfake technology to undermine democratic processes. Party leaders have called for a thorough investigation into the origin of the video and demanded accountability from those spreading misinformation.
Kshirsagar concluded his press conference by reiterating his commitment to transparency and ethical conduct, stating that he would not be intimidated by such malicious campaigns. He also appealed to social media platforms to take down the video and prevent its further spread.
