Telangana Chief Minister Launches Scathing Attack on PM Modi and Former CM KCR Ahead of Municipal Polls
In a fiery election rally held at Bardipur in Nizamabad district on Friday, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy escalated political tensions by directly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. With municipal elections looming, Reddy accused both national and state leaders of gross negligence toward Nizamabad, alleging they allowed the municipal corporation to deteriorate into what he described as a 'garbage dump'.
Congress Positioned as Sole Party for Urban Development
Positioning the Congress party as the exclusive vehicle for meaningful urban progress, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made a passionate appeal to voters. He urged them to elect Congress candidates across the district, promising substantial funds, the development of an airport, and comprehensive revitalization of urban local bodies. Reddy asserted that neither the BRS nor the BJP possesses the moral authority to seek votes from Nizamabad residents.
"Narendra Modi has served as Prime Minister for twelve years, and KCR occupied the Chief Minister's office for a decade, yet they accomplished nothing for Nizamabad city," declared Reddy during his address. "Prime Minister Modi and local MP D Arvind failed to secure Nizamabad's inclusion in the central government's prestigious Smart City project. Arvind merely uses Modi's name for political leverage. Does the Prime Minister need to personally clean drain lines in Nizamabad? If you vote for BRS or BJP, their corporators and councilors will be powerless to obtain necessary funds."
Allegations of BRS Stalling Development Projects
The Chief Minister leveled serious accusations against BRS corporators, claiming they actively obstructed development initiatives despite state government approvals. Reddy revealed that the Telangana government has sanctioned a substantial ₹1,045 crore for municipalities within the undivided Nizamabad district. He highlighted that approximately 90% of previous local representatives belonged to BRS, suggesting systemic sabotage at the grassroots level.
"Even with state funds readily available, BRS leaders deliberately blocked progress," alleged Reddy. "If additional funds are required, the local MLA should approach me directly. Securing funding is my responsibility, and completing district projects is my duty. Our Congress corporators and councilors must achieve victory; only then will meaningful work commence. The people of Nizamabad must not let this golden opportunity slip away. The Congress flag must fly triumphantly over Nizamabad."
Political Allegiances and Investigation Criticisms
Revanth Reddy further intensified his critique by referencing comments made by MP D Arvind regarding KCR and former minister T Harish Rao, questioning why no arrests have followed. He noted that while the state government transferred the Kaleshwaram project investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), no consequential action has materialized.
Reddy also targeted Union Coal Minister Kishan Reddy, accusing him of shielding KCR. "Kishan Reddy has effectively transformed into Kalvakuntla Kishan Rao," remarked Reddy. "The bond between BRS and BJP resembles Fevicol adhesive—they are inseparable like the conjoined twins Veena and Vani from Hyderabad."
Caste Inclusivity and Development Promises
Addressing caste-related remarks directed at him, Reddy stated that various leaders have attempted to label him differently following caste census and Scheduled Caste categorization exercises. "I take pride in the fact that all castes and communities have embraced me as one of their own," he affirmed. "They perceive me as favorable toward Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, minorities, and others. I will unite all communities and transform Telangana into a model state of development and harmony."
Substantial Development Initiatives Announced
Earlier on Friday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated development projects valued at over ₹800 crore across Nizamabad district. Key initiatives included foundation stone ceremonies for three Young India Integrated Residential Schools in Armoor, Bodhan, and Nizamabad rural constituencies, alongside various projects at Telangana University.
The Chief Minister also distributed bank linkage cheques to self-help groups and presented ₹1 crore compensation cheques each to the families of excise constable Soumya and police constable Pramod Kumar, demonstrating the government's commitment to welfare and support.
Confidence in Congress Future Leadership
Revanth Reddy expressed strong confidence in the Congress party's political trajectory, recalling its return to power in undivided Andhra Pradesh during 2004 and 2009 under the leadership of YS Rajasekhara Reddy and D Srinivas. He boldly asserted that the party would regain power in 2029 under his leadership alongside Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president B Mahesh Kumar Goud, signaling long-term strategic planning for the state's political landscape.
