Rajasthan Minister Donates Salary to Tribal Man

Jaipur: Cabinet minister Kirori Lal Meena on Wednesday announced that he will donate his one month's salary to support a tribal man from Odisha, following a disturbing incident in Keonjhar district that has drawn national attention.

Incident Details

The case involves Jitu Munda, who reportedly reached a bank carrying the skeletal remains of his deceased sister. The act highlighted alleged bureaucratic hurdles and delays in accessing welfare benefits for marginalized communities.

Minister's Response

Expressing anguish, Meena said he was deeply moved by the incident. "Jitu Munda's pain is my pain, his suffering is my suffering. It is my duty to stand with him in this difficult time," he wrote in a post on X.

He added that he would donate his entire one month's salary, amounting to about ₹1.45 lakh, including salary and allowances, to the family.

Call for Action

Calling the incident a "stain on society", Meena urged Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to take action. "Such harassment in the name of paperwork faced by a poor tribal is unacceptable," he said.

The incident has sparked outrage, with calls for accountability and better access to welfare benefits for marginalized communities. Many have demanded systemic reforms to prevent such bureaucratic delays in the future.
