Mega Zinc Park Proposed in Bhilwara by RIICO and Hindustan Zinc

Following several rounds of discussions, the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) and Hindustan Zinc have proposed the development of a Mega Zinc Park in the Kankhla area of Bhilwara district. Spread across 111 acres, the master plan for the park will be developed by RIICO, which will also provide essential infrastructure such as roads, water, and electricity.

Key Features of the Proposed Zinc Park

Hindustan Zinc itself will establish a plant and a common facility centre on five to seven acres within the park. According to a statement from RIICO, the Vedanta Group is working to bring multiple companies connected to the zinc value chain into the proposed park. In the initial phase, five to six companies have already expressed interest in investing.

Land Allocation and Plot Sizes

Of the total land earmarked, Hindustan Zinc has submitted proposals for investment on about 66 acres. RIICO has accordingly planned plots ranging from 1,000 square metres to 80,000 square metres, ensuring that both micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and large industries can set up units within the park.

First-of-its-Kind in Northern India

The Kankhla Zinc Park, once operational, will be the first of its kind in northern India, dedicated exclusively to companies linked with the zinc value chain. Officials believe the project will accelerate Rajasthan’s industrial development and generate employment opportunities for local youth. For Bhilwara, already known for its mineral wealth and industrial base, the proposed zinc park could become a new driver for growth, positioning Rajasthan as a hub for specialised metal-based industries.
