Panchkula Faces Extended Power and Water Crisis for Second Day
Panchkula: Power-Water Crisis Continues for Second Day

Panchkula Grapples with Prolonged Power and Water Supply Disruptions

For the second consecutive day on Saturday, residents across multiple sectors in Panchkula faced significant disruptions in both power and water supply. The persistent issues have severely impacted daily life, with many areas reporting extended hours without electricity and erratic water availability.

Widespread Power Outages and Water Woes

Numerous localities experienced prolonged electricity cuts, while others dealt with an unstable power supply characterized by frequent tripping and intermittent outages. These power disruptions had a direct knock-on effect on water supply, as pumping stations were unable to function during periods without electricity. Consequently, many sectors either received delayed water supply or went completely without water for several hours, exacerbating the inconvenience for households.

Residents Voice Frustration Over Daily Hardships

Citizens from various parts of the city expressed deep concern over how these disruptions are affecting their routines. Mahesh, a resident of Sector 21, highlighted the severity of the situation, stating, "We did not get a drop of water yesterday. Today, we got very low water supply. What is more surprising is the response from officials. We got no information or communication about the repairs being done." This sentiment was echoed by others who lamented the lack of timely updates from authorities, adding to their frustration.

S K Nayar, president of the Citizens Welfare Association and a resident of Sector 15, noted that while the power situation had shown some improvement, water supply remained irregular. "People are finding it tough to do daily household work," he added, underscoring the practical challenges faced by families. In contrast, Mohit Gupta from Sector 25 reported that his area did not face water issues but struggled with persistent power outages. He pointed out that some housing societies encountered problems operating lifts, causing particular inconvenience to senior citizens. "People did not have power supply even today till evening in some areas," he remarked.

Official Response and Restoration Efforts

Officials attributed the disruptions to adverse weather conditions, citing faults caused by rain, strong winds, and lightning. They mentioned that improvement in weather had allowed water supply to be gradually restored in many affected pockets. However, in areas where electricity disruptions persisted, water services continued to be impacted, indicating the interconnected nature of the issues.

Authorities from the electricity department and HSVP (Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran) stated that ground teams had been deployed to attend to complaints and restore services. The restoration work is being carried out in a phased manner to ensure safety and prevent further damage. "Restoration work is underway, and power and water supply were restored in most areas. Remaining individual issues are being resolved sector by sector," officials assured, emphasizing their ongoing efforts to address the crisis.

Despite these assurances, the extended nature of the disruptions has left many residents anxious and calling for more effective communication and quicker resolution of the problems affecting their daily lives in Panchkula.
