The Greater Kailash I police station was awarded the Cleanest Police Station award by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena during the Delhi Police Commissionerate Day parade held on Tuesday. The award was presented at a ceremony attended by senior police officials and dignitaries.
Award Ceremony Highlights
The Delhi Police Commissionerate Day parade showcased the achievements of the force over the past year. LG Saxena, who is also the chairman of the Delhi Police Board, praised the efforts of the Greater Kailash I police station in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards. The station was selected from among 200 police stations across the national capital.
Criteria for Selection
The selection was based on a rigorous evaluation process that included inspections of premises, waste management systems, sanitation facilities, and overall upkeep. The Greater Kailash I station scored highest in categories such as cleanliness of offices, barracks, and public areas. According to a Delhi Police spokesperson, the award aims to encourage all stations to improve their infrastructure and hygiene.
Response from Station Officials
Station House Officer (SHO) of Greater Kailash I, Inspector Rakesh Kumar, expressed gratitude for the recognition. He said, "This award is a testament to the hard work of our staff and the support of the local community. We will continue to maintain high standards." The station also implemented eco-friendly practices like waste segregation and use of recycled materials.
Impact on Community Policing
The cleanest police station award is part of a broader initiative by the Delhi Police to enhance public trust and community engagement. A clean and well-maintained station creates a positive image and encourages citizens to approach police for help. The initiative has led to a 10% increase in footfall at the station over the past six months, according to police records.
