Owaisi Asserts BRS Support Equals Backing BJP in Karimnagar Civic Body Race
In a sharp political address on Saturday, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi declared that casting a ballot for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in the upcoming Karimnagar municipal corporation elections is effectively a vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He made this statement while campaigning vigorously, calling upon Muslim communities, Dalits, Backward Classes (BCs), and other groups to rally behind AIMIM candidates instead.
Criticism of Ruling Parties and Promises of Development
Owaisi launched a scathing attack on both BRS and BJP corporators, accusing them of failing to deliver for the people. "The BRS and BJP corporators did not do anything for you," he asserted, contrasting this with AIMIM's approach. He clarified that while his party is not aligned with the ruling Congress, it possesses the acumen to extract governmental work effectively.
Highlighting AIMIM's track record, Owaisi pointed to development projects worth over Rs 600 crore currently being executed in constituencies represented by him and his brother, Akbaruddin Owaisi. "Our corporators will work for you," he promised, positioning AIMIM as a viable alternative focused on tangible outcomes.

The AIMIM leader has been actively addressing election rallies across various municipalities, including Jagtial and Zaheerabad. In these gatherings, he appealed directly to AIMIM leaders, Muslim scholars, and other community influencers to ensure maximum participation in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Owaisi issued a stern warning regarding the SIR process, urging voters not to take it lightly. He alleged that the BJP is utilizing the SIR as a tool to target specific communities, drawing parallels to the National Register of Citizens (NRC). "The BJP is targeting you through the SIR instead of the NRC," he cautioned, emphasizing the critical importance of voter enrollment and verification.
Internal Congress Strife and Political Maneuvering
During a meeting in Jagtial, Owaisi commented on the internal discord within the Congress party, noting a conflict between Congress leader T Jeevan Reddy and alleged turncoat Sanjay Kumar. He described their rivalry as a fight over who would secure the Congress ticket for the next assembly election.
"But I am sure one of them will go to Mamu (KCR) before the 2028 assembly election," Owaisi predicted, suggesting potential defections to BRS. He argued that this infighting between the Congress and the alleged turncoat camps is inadvertently benefiting the BJP, thereby weakening the opposition's unity.
