Patna Chief Minister Inspects Digha Tourist Ghat, Issues Directives for Ganga Aarti

In a significant move to bolster tourism infrastructure in Bihar's capital, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar conducted a thorough inspection of the Digha Tourist Ghat on Thursday. During his visit, the CM issued explicit instructions to officials from the tourism department, Patna district administration, and the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) to ensure "complete arrangements" are made for the performance of the sacred Ganga Aarti at Janardan Tourist Ghat.

Focus on Development and Tourist Experience

The Janardan Ghat, which forms an integral part of the western stretch of the Digha Tourist Ghat along the River Ganga, is being developed as a major tourist destination due to its consistently high footfall. Recognizing its potential, CM Nitish Kumar emphasized the need for comprehensive enhancements to cater to visitors. "Do plantation work around the Digha Tourist Ghat and convert the present ghat into a pucca (cemented) ghat," he directed. Furthermore, he stressed the importance of the Ganga Aarti, stating, "Make complete arrangements for the performance of the Ganga Aarti, as visitors come here in large numbers and they will love to partake of the joy from the Ganga Aarti performance."

Infrastructure and Tourism Boost

Officials accompanying the chief minister informed him that Janardan Ghat is being developed as a key component of the overall tourism plan for the region. The CM's directives aim to transform the site into a more accessible and aesthetically pleasing location, thereby enhancing the visitor experience. In addition to the ghat improvements, Nitish Kumar also inspected the site of the upcoming six-lane Ganga bridge, which is being constructed parallel to the existing J P Setu. This infrastructure project is expected to further facilitate access and boost tourism in the area.

High-Level Official Presence

The inspection was attended by a cadre of senior officials, underscoring the importance of the initiative. Key personnel included:

  • Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar
  • Secretaries Kumar Ravi and Chandrashekhar Singh
  • Tourism Secretary Nilesh Ramchandra Deware
  • Town Commissioner Yashwant Meena
  • Patna District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M
  • The SSP and other relevant officials

Their presence highlights the coordinated effort required to implement the CM's vision for developing Digha Tourist Ghat into a premier tourist attraction. The focus on both infrastructure and cultural elements like the Ganga Aarti reflects a holistic approach to tourism development in Patna.
