Nagpur Opposition Leader Initiates Weekly 'Janta Darbar' to Address Mounting Civic Concerns
In a significant move aimed at tackling the escalating civic problems in Nagpur, Sanjay Mahakalkar, the Leader of Opposition in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), has announced the launch of a weekly 'janta darbar' at his NMC office. This public forum will be held every Tuesday from 3 pm to 6 pm, providing a direct platform for citizens to voice their grievances and seek timely solutions.
Addressing Long-Pending Issues and Administrative Failures
Mahakalkar emphasized that residents are grappling with persistent challenges, including severe water shortages and a lack of basic services. He attributed these problems to the alleged failures of both the ruling party and the civic administration. "People are forced to run from pillar to post without finding any solutions. This initiative is designed to ensure their complaints are not only heard but also acted upon effectively," he stated, highlighting the urgency of the situation.

The opposition leader specifically pointed to the deteriorating water crisis in various parts of the city, criticizing what he described as administrative inaction. He referenced assurances given during the general body meeting on March 20, where Mayor Neeta Thakre had promised a special session to address the issue. "Even after a month has passed, no such meeting has been convened. This reflects a profound lack of urgency and commitment to resolving critical civic matters," Mahakalkar remarked, underscoring the need for immediate action.
