Major Fire Incident in Nagpur Destroys Four Private Buses
A significant fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday in Nagpur's Ganeshpeth area, completely gutting four private buses that were parked in an open ground. The incident, which occurred at a parking space belonging to the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, resulted in substantial property damage but fortunately caused no injuries to any individuals.
Swift Firefighting Response Prevents Further Damage
Fire tenders and officials from three different Nagpur Municipal Corporation fire stations responded promptly to the emergency call. Their timely intervention was crucial in bringing the blaze under control and preventing it from spreading to other vehicles parked nearby. Thanks to their efforts, approximately four additional private buses were saved from destruction.
The firefighting operation was led by Cotton Market in-charge officer Bhagwan Wagh and Ganeshpeth in-charge officer Vilas Tilgude, who coordinated with civil fire brigade officials and vehicles. After nearly two hours of intense efforts, the fire was finally extinguished, though not before four buses were reduced to ashes.
Substantial Financial Losses Incurred
The destroyed vehicles included a bus belonging to Sheikh Rahim, another owned by Shekhar Khangar, a bus from Rajmudra Tours and Travels, and one owned by Narendra Charde. Preliminary estimates suggest the total financial loss amounts to several lakhs of rupees, though exact figures are still being calculated.
According to local sources, the parking ground in Ganeshpeth regularly accommodates more than ten private buses overnight. On Friday night, the premises contained multiple vehicles when the fire erupted unexpectedly.
Investigation Underway to Determine Fire Cause
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this time. Fire officials have stated that the origin of the blaze is yet to be ascertained. Ganeshpeth police have initiated a thorough investigation into the incident to determine what triggered the destructive fire.
Local residents first noticed flames rising from the parked buses in the early morning hours and immediately alerted the Cotton Market fire station, which triggered the emergency response. The quick thinking of these residents helped prevent what could have been an even more devastating incident.
