MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav Explores Varanasi Temple Corridor for Simhastha 2028 Insights

In a significant visit to Varanasi on Tuesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav conducted an extensive tour of the renowned Kashi Vishwanath temple corridor. The primary focus of his visit was to gather crucial lessons in crowd management and administrative planning, which he intends to apply directly to the preparations for the upcoming Simhastha 2028 pilgrimage event in Ujjain.

Strategic MoUs Signed for Enhanced Cooperation

During his visit, Chief Minister Yadav announced that one of the key objectives was the formal signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen administrative arrangements. These agreements are specifically designed with an eye toward the mega pilgrimage event while facilitating a robust exchange of information between two of India's most sacred shrines: Baba Vishwanath in Varanasi and Baba Mahakal in Ujjain.

Learning from Varanasi's Pilgrim Management Systems

The Chief Minister described his experiences in Varanasi as highly relevant and invaluable for the planning of Simhastha–2028, which will be hosted in his native city of Ujjain. He held detailed meetings with the trustees of the Kashi Vishwanath temple trust and meticulously reviewed a comprehensive presentation on advanced pilgrim management systems at the corridor.

Key areas of focus during the review included:

  1. Sophisticated crowd management techniques and protocols.
  2. Efficient darshan arrangements to ensure smooth visitor flow.
  3. The implementation and operation of a mobile app-based token system for organized access.

Yadav stated that the crowd control and management strategies successfully deployed at the Kashi Vishwanath corridor, along with lessons from previous Mahakumbh events, will serve as foundational models while drawing up long-term, sustainable plans for devotees in Ujjain.

Reviewing Modern Pilgrimage Management Protocols

Further deepening his administrative insights, Chief Minister Yadav reviewed the standard operating procedures for managing high-capacity pilgrimage sites during a detailed presentation. The discussions encompassed a wide range of modern management systems, including:

  • Real-time CCTV monitoring for enhanced security and crowd analysis.
  • Zone-based crowd control mechanisms to prevent overcrowding.
  • Advanced security protocols to ensure devotee safety.
  • Modern sanitation management systems to maintain hygiene and cleanliness.

Yadav eloquently equated Varanasi and Ujjain as iconic landmarks of immense religious and cultural significance, underscoring the shared heritage and the importance of collaborative learning between these two historic cities.

Inaugurating the MP–UP Sahayog Sammelan

Beyond temple management, Chief Minister Yadav also inaugurated the MP–UP Sahayog Sammelan in Varanasi. This event is strategically aimed at providing a common platform to showcase and synergize the diverse strengths of both states. The Sammelan focuses on:

  • Highlighting industrial capabilities and traditional crafts.
  • Promoting ODOP and GI-tagged products for economic growth.
  • Showcasing agricultural and food products to boost trade.
  • Exploring investment opportunities and enhancing tourism potential.

This visit marks a proactive step in inter-state cooperation, blending spiritual governance with economic and administrative partnership to ensure Simhastha 2028 is a landmark event celebrated with efficiency, devotion, and grandeur.
