In a proactive move to address the impending summer water scarcity, MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Wednesday issued clear directives to zilla panchayat officials in Mysuru. He emphasized the urgent need for priority measures to tackle the drinking water crisis in villages that are likely to be severely affected during the upcoming hot season.
Identification of Vulnerable Villages and Daily Monitoring
While chairing a crucial meeting at the Zilla Panchayat office, Siddaramaiah revealed that the ZP has already identified vulnerable villages across the region. He instructed officials to conduct daily visits to these areas to closely monitor and assess the evolving water situation. Preparedness with Water Supply Measures
The MLC specifically asked officials to remain fully prepared with water tankers to supply drinking water to affected villages as soon as shortages emerge. Siddaramaiah also stressed the importance of completing ongoing works under the Multi-Village Drinking Water Scheme. Recognizing potential hurdles in implementation, the MLC asked officials to promptly inform senior officers if they encounter any financial crunch or shortage of grants for drinking water-related works.
