Karnataka MLA Expresses Regret Over Comments, Alleges BJP Provocation in Assembly
Arasikere MLA KM Shivalinge Gowda has publicly expressed regret for bringing the wife of BJP MLA Sharanu Salagar into a recent political dispute. However, he has firmly accused BJP legislators of provoking him with abusive language and deliberate heckling during assembly sessions, leading to his outburst.
MLA Details Provocation and Dissatisfaction with BJP Behavior
Briefing reporters, Gowda stated he was deeply dissatisfied with the behavior of BJP legislators, claiming they provoked him into making remarks against the RSS and BJP. He alleged that some BJP MLAs intentionally provoked him inside the House, using abusive language while he was speaking. During a discussion on MNREGA, he said he was simultaneously heckled, questioning, "What is the reason for such behaviour towards a legislator?"
Gowda specifically accused four BJP legislators of constantly targeting him. "This is not just about the recent incident. Whenever I speak, those four legislators make it a habit to provoke me. Why is my name unnecessarily brought up?" he emphasized. He maintained that he was insulted with words like "thief" and reacted only after hearing obscene language. "I did nothing wrong. I am ready to apologise if I made a mistake. But without any fault, I was targeted," he asserted.
Regret Over Personal Remarks and Defense of Constituency Support
The MLA expressed remorse for mentioning Salagar's wife, who serves as a Tahsildar, stating it was a regrettable escalation. He defended his position by highlighting his electoral mandate, asking, "The people of the Arasikere constituency elected me. What crime did I commit? How many switched parties in Karnataka?" He added that the public should be aware of the provocation he faced, underscoring the challenges legislators encounter in maintaining decorum under pressure.
This incident sheds light on the tense atmosphere in Karnataka's legislative assembly, where personal attacks and provocation have become recurring issues.
