Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday outlined the extensive arrangements put in place by the state government to accommodate the massive influx of devotees expected at Fatehgarh Sahib for the Shaheedi Sabha. The event honors the supreme sacrifice of the younger Sahibzadas and Mata Gujri.
Comprehensive Healthcare and Transport Facilities
The Chief Minister emphasized that special attention has been paid to health and mobility for the pilgrims. Twenty Aam Aadmi Clinics and five dispensaries are being established at the venue, staffed with expert doctors and equipped with necessary medicines and equipment. To manage the movement of people, the government will deploy 200 shuttle buses and 100 e-rickshaws to ferry devotees from parking areas to Gurdwara Sahib and other key locations.
Advanced Traffic Management and Security Setup
Mann highlighted the use of modern technology for smooth operations. For the first time, Google's services are being utilized for real-time traffic management around Fatehgarh Sahib, allowing authorities to make immediate alternate arrangements in case of congestion. A robust security apparatus has been established, with over 3,300 police personnel deployed on duty. An Integrated Control Centre with helpline number 0176-3232838 has been set up for public assistance. Furthermore, 300 CCTV cameras are being installed at strategic points, complemented by aerial surveillance via drones to monitor anti-social elements.
Government Cooperation and Infrastructure
The Chief Minister assured that the Punjab government is ready to extend full cooperation to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) if any additional support is required for devotee convenience. This statement gains significance following separate events organized by the state and the SGPC in November for the 350th martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur. To handle the expected vehicular traffic, authorities have prepared five large and sixteen smaller parking areas. Mann reiterated that the government's comprehensive measures covering health, transport, cleanliness, and security aim to ensure that no devotee faces any inconvenience during the solemn occasion.
