Manipur Chief Minister Vows Full Protection for Kuki-Zo Community in Imphal
In a significant development aimed at fostering peace and normalcy, Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand has made a firm commitment to ensure the safety and security of Kuki-Zo people visiting the state capital, Imphal. This assurance was delivered during a public function at Langthabal Lep in Imphal West district on Monday, where the Chief Minister emphasized the government's unwavering responsibility towards protecting all citizens, regardless of their ethnic background.
CM's Statement Follows MLA's Medical Airlift
The Chief Minister's statement came just one day after he, along with two other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators, personally saw off Kuki-Zo MLA Vungzagin Valte at Imphal airport. Valte was airlifted for medical treatment, and Khemchand extended his wishes for a speedy recovery. This gesture underscored the government's proactive approach in addressing the needs of the Kuki-Zo community during these challenging times.
Speaking at the flagging-off ceremony for the project to strengthen the pavement of the Imphal–Kakching Lamkhai Road (NH-137A), Khemchand elaborated on his pledge. He stated, "The government will provide complete protection and support to any Kuki-Zo person visiting Imphal or seeking medical treatment in the city." This declaration is seen as a crucial step towards rebuilding trust and ensuring that all residents feel secure in the region.

Chief Minister Khemchand also recalled a recent phone conversation with Thalon MLA Vungzagin Valte, who had called to congratulate him on assuming the chief ministerial role.
