Mangaluru MLA Announces Major Infrastructure Project with Rs 11 Crore Funding
In a significant development for Mangaluru's infrastructure, Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty has revealed that the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) will undertake a crucial road and truck yard development project. The initiative, set to commence on Thursday, aims to enhance connectivity and industrial efficiency in the region.
Project Details and Funding Approval
MLA Y Bharath Shetty informed reporters that the NMPA has agreed to sanction Rs 11 crore for the construction of a concrete road from the Baikampady Industrial Area to NH-66, along with a well-equipped truck yard. This funding decision follows a detailed meeting held in the MLA's office on Monday, which included officials from the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), traffic police, and the NMPA.
Shetty emphasized that the project addresses a long-standing demand for road repairs and concrete construction in the Baikampady Industrial Area, a major industrial zone known for heavy vehicle movement. He stated, "I have instructed the concerned officials to complete the work within two months," highlighting the urgency and commitment to timely execution.
Traffic Management and Public Convenience
During the meeting, special attention was given to traffic control measures to minimize public inconvenience. It was decided that police will issue orders to temporarily close the related road starting Thursday, with alternative routes provided to ensure smooth traffic flow. Strict enforcement of traffic regulations will be implemented in the area to manage the high volume of industrial vehicles.
Shetty noted that the project will benefit local businesses, vehicle drivers, and the general public by improving road conditions and reducing congestion. The development is expected to boost economic activities in the industrial area and enhance overall transportation efficiency.
