Kriti Kumari's Journey: Defying Marriage to Become a Government Officer
Kriti Kumari always dreamed of serving as a government official. She graduated in Geography from a college in Bokaro and worked hard towards her goal. A decade ago, her life took an unexpected turn when her family arranged her marriage to an engineer in Chouparan block.
Walking Away from Resistance
As the daughter of a police sub-inspector, Kriti possessed determination. After marriage, she expressed her desire to continue studying at her in-laws' home. Her husband and his parents strongly opposed this idea. Kriti refused to accept this limitation.
She made a bold decision and left her husband's home. Kriti returned to her father's house in Bundel Nagar locality. Neighbors criticized her choice, but she remained focused on her ambitions.
The Struggle and Sacrifice
Kriti faced immense challenges as a single mother. She raised her eight-year-old son alone while preparing for competitive examinations. Societal pressure and responsibilities often made her consider quitting.
Her father, Karuna Singh, provided crucial support. He rented a separate room for her in a nearby girls' hostel to create a peaceful study environment. This allowed Kriti to concentrate fully on her preparation.
Cracking the JPSC Examination
Kriti appeared for the preliminary tests in 2024. She progressed to the main examination in August of the same year. Her final interview took place on January 8, 2025.
Earlier this month, her perseverance paid off. Kriti successfully cleared the Jharkhand Public Service Commission examination and interview. She earned the position of Child Development Project Officer and now awaits her first posting.
A Message of Empowerment
"My journey represents every woman who dares to break societal shackles," Kriti stated. She emphasized that focus, self-belief, and unwavering determination lead to success.
"Girls should never give up," she advised. "They must fight against all odds with courage. I lived in a rented house for four years and studied five hours daily to crack this exam."
When the CDPO results were announced last week, Kriti's family celebrated with tears of joy. Her story demonstrates that personal dreams can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.
