Kolhapur Braces for Water Supply Disruption Due to Essential Pipeline Maintenance
Residents across multiple wards in Kolhapur are set to face significant water supply disruptions early next week. The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) has announced a complete shutdown of water treatment and distribution from the Baliga and Nagdevwadi wastewater treatment plants on Monday, April 20. This measure is necessitated by critical high-pressure pipeline work being undertaken by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) at the Balinga substation.
Widespread Impact on City and Suburban Areas
The suspension of operations at these key treatment facilities will directly affect water availability for a large section of the city. A, B, C, and D wards of Kolhapur, along with their adjacent suburban and rural areas, will experience a complete water cut on Monday. KMC water supply officials have formally appealed to all residents in these zones to use water extremely judiciously in the lead-up to and during this period.
KMC Water Supply Engineer Harshjit Ghatge provided detailed clarification on the expected service levels. "Due to the essential infrastructure works being carried out by MSEDCL, areas dependent on the Chambukhadi water tank will be unable to receive any water supply on Monday," Ghatge stated. "Furthermore, the water supply on Tuesday, April 21, will be restored but will be inadequate and operate at low pressure. This impact zone encompasses A, B, C, D wards and their adjoining suburbs and rural localities."
List of Specific Localities Affected
The water cut and subsequent low-pressure supply will be felt across numerous neighborhoods. The comprehensive list of affected areas includes:
- Lakshattirth Vasahat, Phulewadi Ring Road, Sane Guruji, Crusher Chowk
- Aptenagar, Rajopadhyenagar, Kanerkarnagar, Krantisingh Nana Patil Nagar
