Key Architect of SAD (Punar Surjeet) Resigns, Citing Ideological Concerns

In a significant development for Punjab politics, Charanjit Singh Brar has resigned from all positions within the Giani Harpreet Singh-led SAD (Punar Surjeet) faction. Brar served as the party's general secretary and chief coordinator. He played a pivotal role in the membership drive that led to the faction's formation on August 11 last year.

A Resignation Posted with a Heavy Heart

Brar announced his departure in a Facebook post on Wednesday. He stated he was resigning with "a heavy heart." The leader expressed deep disappointment with the current direction of the party he helped build.

"Sadly, today, even in this new party's rejuvenation, ideological principles are not being safeguarded," Brar wrote in his post.

Criticism of Inaction and Broken Morale

Brar highlighted a lack of concrete action from the party leadership. He pointed out that five months after the election of the party president, the faction has not been seen actively fighting for public issues.

He also noted the absence of any substantial program being presented to the workers and the public. This perceived inaction has severely impacted party morale.

"As a result, the morale of every worker involved in recruitment has almost completely broken," Brar stated.

A Message from Guru Sahib's Bani

Instead of directly criticizing individuals, Brar chose to convey his feelings through a spiritual reference. He quoted a line from Guru Sahib's Bani: 'Hum nahin changay, bura nahin koi' (I am not good; no one else is bad).

He expressed hope that the leadership, which he believes has strayed from the path of reform, will correct its course. Brar remains hopeful that internal reform is still possible and could lead the party to success.

A Plea to Avoid Statement Politics

In his resignation, Brar made a specific request. He asked that no one engage in "statement politics" against him. He warned that if he were forced to respond, it could cause major damage to the faction.

"I do not wish to harm this second reform movement, which I myself initiated by writing the first letter," he explained. Brar revealed he had already stopped working and quietly stayed at home since October 13, 2025, to avoid causing disruption.

Echoes of Past Ideological Lapses

Brar drew a painful parallel between the current situation and past events. He recalled that his family severed its long association with the Badal family due to serious ideological lapses within the Shiromani Akali Dal.

He expressed "deep pain" in observing similar issues emerging again in the new faction. Brar emphasized that while he had ideological differences in the past, there was never a lack of personal respect. However, major ideological shortcomings compelled him to leave everything behind and move towards reform once more.

This resignation deals a substantial blow to the SAD (Punar Surjeet) faction, removing a key organizer and raising public questions about its direction and commitment to its founding principles.
