ACE, a leading Indian manufacturer of construction and material handling equipment, has partnered with Japan's KATO Works Co., Ltd. to transform India into a global hub for high-capacity cranes. The collaboration aims to build a world-class manufacturing platform capable of delivering high-quality, cost-competitive lifting solutions for customers in India and international markets.
Strategic Partnership Details
Under the agreement, ACE and KATO will combine their technological expertise and manufacturing capabilities to produce a range of high-capacity cranes, including crawler cranes and truck-mounted cranes, with lifting capacities ranging from 50 tons to 500 tons. The partnership will leverage ACE's extensive distribution network in India and KATO's advanced engineering and design know-how, which has been honed over decades in the Japanese market.
According to a joint statement, the collaboration is expected to reduce India's dependence on imported cranes and position the country as a competitive exporter of heavy lifting equipment. The companies plan to set up a dedicated manufacturing facility in Maharashtra, with an initial investment of approximately ₹500 crore. The facility is expected to become operational by 2027, creating over 1,000 direct jobs.
Impact on Indian Manufacturing
This partnership aligns with the Indian government's 'Make in India' initiative and its focus on boosting domestic manufacturing in capital-intensive sectors. The crane market in India is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8-10% over the next five years, driven by infrastructure projects such as highways, ports, and renewable energy installations.
