Karnataka Congress Government to Celebrate 1000 Days in Office with Grand Land Rights Distribution Event
The Congress government in Karnataka, under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is set to mark a significant milestone by completing 1,000 days in office. To commemorate this achievement, the government has planned a grand public event scheduled for February 14 in Haveri district. This large-scale gathering aims to distribute title deeds to an impressive 100,000 beneficiaries across the state, addressing long-standing land rights issues.
Preparations Underway for Massive Public Gathering
District Minister Shivanand Patil has been actively overseeing the preparations for this monumental event. On Friday, he conducted a thorough inspection of the site to ensure all arrangements are in place. The event will be held in a field on the outskirts of Haveri city along the old PB road, with an expected attendance of 200,000 people. A massive tent will be erected to accommodate the crowd, reflecting the scale of this initiative.
The infrastructure for the event is being developed on a grand scale. A main stage is being constructed on 18 acres of land, with parking facilities spread across 94 acres. Additionally, four helipads are being set up on 8 acres, and dining arrangements are being made on 10 acres. The stage itself will measure 140 feet by 60 feet, designed to accommodate 200 guests, including government officials and dignitaries.
Land Rights Distribution Across Nine Districts
Minister Shivanand Patil emphasized that the primary goal of this event is to distribute land rights documents to more than 100,000 families. This initiative spans nine districts: Haveri, Davanagere, Dharwad, Gadag, Koppal, Chitradurga, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga, and Chikkamagaluru. He noted that approximately 50,000 people from Haveri district alone are expected to attend, highlighting the local significance of this program.
The event is estimated to cost Rs 15 crore, underscoring the government's commitment to resolving land ownership issues. Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Rudrappa Lamani pointed out that there has been a long-standing struggle to provide records to unrecorded villages such as Haadi, Hatti, Tanda, Doddi, and Paalya. He recalled that land rights documents were previously issued during Siddaramaiah's tenure, indicating continuity in this effort.
Government Officials Rally Behind the Initiative
Deputy Commissioner Vijay Mahantesh explained that the decision to organize the convention in Haveri was driven by the high number of beneficiaries in the district. This strategic choice ensures that the event reaches those most in need of land rights documentation. The presence of key officials, including MLA Yasir Khan Pathan, SP Yashoda Vantagodi, and ZP CEO Ruchi Bindal, further demonstrates the government's coordinated approach to this initiative.
As preparations continue, the Karnataka government aims to use this event not only to celebrate its 1,000-day milestone but also to make a tangible impact on the lives of thousands of families by securing their land rights. This grand convention represents a significant step towards addressing historical injustices and promoting social equity in the region.
