Jaipur Braces for Major Traffic Disruptions on Thursday
Jaipur residents should prepare for significant traffic disruptions this Thursday. The Indian Army's Shaurya Sandhya event at SMS Stadium will cause major diversions on Tonk Road and congestion on JLN Marg.
Road Closures and Diversion Plans
Traffic police will suspend movement on Mahal Road for the Army Day Parade from 5am to noon. This closure affects the stretch between NRI Chouraha and Bombay Hospital intersection.
Officers from the traffic department confirm diversion plans for Tonk Road. They will redirect traffic between Narayan Singh Circle and Gandhi Nagar Mod toward JLN Marg. These diversions will operate twice:
- From approximately 4:30pm to 5:30pm
- Again from 7pm onward
General vehicles face restrictions on all roads surrounding SMS Stadium. Specifically, traffic cannot enter:
- Vidhan Sabha Road from Sahakar Marg
- Bhagwan Das Marg and Jan Path from Statue Circle
- Ambedkar Circle from Bais Godam Circle
VIP Movements and Parking Arrangements
Police will temporarily stop traffic on JLN Marg and other stretches to facilitate VVIP convoys. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will grace the event alongside other dignitaries.
The event expects nearly 1.2 lakh spectators. However, seating arrangements accommodate only 40,000 people, primarily VVIPs and dignitaries.
Traffic authorities have designated specific parking areas:
- Subodh College compounds on Rambagh Circle
- Amrudon ka Bagh opposite Amar Jyoti Jawan
- The newly constructed parking lot at Rambagh Golf Club remains on standby
Official Advice for Commuters
Traffic officials urge residents, air travelers, and railway passengers to start their journeys early. They note one positive aspect: the event begins well before peak office hours.
"By the time the event concludes, peak office hours will almost end," an official stated. This timing might reduce overall disruption for evening commuters.
Although diversion plans await finalization, authorities emphasize preparedness. They recommend alternative routes and patience during Thursday's celebrations.
