Jaipur's First Army Day Parade: Mahal Road Traffic Plan & 1.2 Lakh Expected
Jaipur Army Day Parade: Traffic Plan for Jan 15

Jaipur is set to witness a historic event as the city prepares for its first-ever Army Day parade on January 15. The grand spectacle will be held on Mahal Road in the Jagatpura area, prompting the Jaipur Commissionerate traffic wing to implement a comprehensive traffic management plan in coordination with the Army and district administration.

Road Closures and Alternative Routes

The entire stretch of Mahal Road between NRI Chouraha and Bombay Hospital will be completely closed for all vehicular movement, including emergency services, from 5 am until 1 pm on January 15. This major closure is essential for the safe and smooth conduct of the parade. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Sumeet Meharda assured that detailed alternative arrangements have been made for residents, commuters, and event participants.

To manage the diverted traffic, officials have outlined specific routes:

  • Traffic from NRI Chouraha will be diverted via Haldighati Marg and VIT Road.
  • Traffic from the Bombay Hospital intersection will be redirected through IT Park Road and Kendriya Vihar Marg.
  • In case of heavy congestion, normal traffic from Vidhani Circle towards Bombay Hospital will be diverted onto Mahatma Gandhi Road.

Importantly, all internal roads in both Pratap Nagar and Jagatpura localities will remain accessible. Local police have been instructed to keep all colony gates open to facilitate the movement of residents living along the closed stretch.

Spectator Arrangements and Massive Footfall

Organisers are anticipating a massive turnout of approximately 1.2 lakh (120,000) people for this landmark event. To accommodate the crowd, seating arrangements for about 40,000 spectators have been set up on both sides of the road, near the centre of the parade stretch.

An official explained the viewing plan: "The crowd will be allowed to watch the parade from the service lanes on both sides. While seating is provided, spectators can also stand on either side of the seated areas to witness the event."

Parking Facilities for Attendees

To handle the influx of vehicles, the traffic wing has identified a total of 18 parking spots along Mahal Road. Eight parking lots are located on the Jagatpura (eastern) side, while ten are on the Pratap Nagar (western) side.

Out of these, two parking areas have been reserved exclusively for guests and dignitaries. One is situated at Jetex Chouraha and the other at the corner of Jeevan Rekha Marg. The remaining 16 parking lots will be open for use by the general public attending the parade.

This coordinated effort by the Jaipur traffic police, Army, and district administration aims to ensure that the city's inaugural Army Day parade is both a memorable celebration and a logistically smooth event for all.
