Kochi Husband Demands Action Against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil in Exploitation Case
Husband seeks action against Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil

The husband of a woman who has accused Palakkad Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil of sexual exploitation has come forward publicly, demanding immediate and strict legal action against the politician. Expressing deep frustration, he stated that the authorities have failed to act despite his formal complaints.

Allegations of Inaction and Public Appeal

Addressing the media in Kochi on Tuesday, the husband revealed his growing despair over the lack of response from the system. He submitted a detailed complaint against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil on January 2, but has received no official reply to date. He lamented that while the accused legislator moves freely in Palakkad, no concrete steps have been taken to investigate the serious allegations.

"Action should be taken against MLA Mamkootathil. He should be taken into custody and interrogated based on my complaint. I should get justice," he asserted. He firmly added his belief that MLAs do not possess any special rights that place them above the law. The husband had earlier escalated the matter by submitting complaints to the Chief Minister and the State Police Chief the previous Friday, yet these too seem to have yielded no visible action.

Core Allegations and Personal Fallout

In his formal complaint, the husband has laid out a disturbing sequence of events. He alleges that Rahul Mamkootathil disrupted his family life after initiating contact with his wife under the pretext of mediating in a domestic violence case. This intervention, he claims, led to severe exploitation.

The controversy has spilled over into their private lives in a painful manner. The husband highlighted that his marriage photograph was circulated widely on social media platforms, constituting a severe violation of his privacy and causing immense personal distress. As a direct consequence of the ongoing turmoil, he announced his intention to file a divorce petition against the survivor in court in the coming days.

Broader Legal Context and Support for Men's Commission

The case against Mamkootathil is part of a larger legal storm engulfing the former Youth Congress state president. He is currently embroiled in two separate rape cases. The first, registered at the Nemom Police station in Thiruvananthapuram, involves grave accusations of sexual assault, forced abortion, and criminal intimidation. The complainant, a married woman, has accused the MLA of exploiting her and then coercing her into terminating a pregnancy. Mamkootathil has denied all charges, maintaining his relationships were consensual and labeling the cases as politically motivated attacks to tarnish his reputation.

In a related development, the husband also voiced support for activist and YouTuber Rahul Easwar, who faces a fresh case filed by the survivor over alleged cyberattacks. Condemning this case, he backed Easwar's argument for the establishment of a men's commission, similar to the women's commission, to ensure justice for all. "All men should get justice," he emphasized, pointing to a perceived gap in the legal support system.

The husband's public appeal underscores a critical moment in Kerala's political and legal landscape, where allegations against a sitting MLA are met with claims of systemic inaction, putting the mechanisms of justice and accountability under intense public scrutiny.
