Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made a key political foray into Punjab's Samrala on Sunday, where he headlined a well-attended workers' rally. The central aim of his visit was to drive awareness and gather support for the Central Government's flagship initiative, now rebranded as the 'Viksit Bharat G Ram G' scheme.
Rally Focus: Promoting G Ram G and Countering Opposition
Addressing the gathering, CM Saini provided details about the transformed scheme. He emphasized that the Centre had undertaken a significant overhaul of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), renaming it 'G Ram G'. The revamped scheme, he stated, now focuses on providing more employment days for workers across the country.
In his speech, Saini launched a sharp critique against opposition parties. He alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress were deliberately spreading false information and misinformation about the G Ram G scheme's benefits and core objectives. According to the Chief Minister, these actions were calculated attempts to mislead the public and undermine a beneficial government program.
Haryana's Welfare Claims and a Jab at Punjab
Shifting focus to his home state's performance, Saini presented a comparative analysis of welfare schemes between Haryana and Punjab. He claimed that Haryana had made substantial progress in fulfilling the promises made during elections.
Saini provided specific figures, stating that out of a total of 217 promises, Haryana had already fulfilled 53 and was on track to complete another 163 by the close of the current financial year. To illustrate his point, he highlighted the old age pension scheme. He noted that senior citizens in Haryana receive Rs 3,200 per month, contrasting it with what he called Punjab's unfulfilled promise of providing Rs 2,500.
Spiritual Start and Party Support
Prior to the political rally, the Chief Minister's visit began on a spiritual note. He paid his respects at two revered places in the region: the Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib in Machhiwara and the ancient Shiv temple, Mukteshwar Dham, located in Chehlan.
The rally itself demonstrated strong organizational backing for the BJP's outreach. It was attended by senior party leaders, including state president Sunil Jakhar and working president Ashwani Sharma. Their presence underscored the party's collective commitment to promoting the G Ram G scheme and expanding its connect with workers in the area.
The event in Samrala marks a continued effort by the ruling party to directly communicate its policy changes and achievements to the grassroots, while simultaneously positioning itself against rival political narratives in the region.
