Haryana Chief Minister Unveils Major Development Package for Tosham Region

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday announced a comprehensive development package worth over Rs 107 crore for Tosham and adjoining areas, while revealing plans to deploy 2,500 trained patwaris across the state within a week to strengthen land administration systems.

Infrastructure and Civic Projects Announced

Addressing the Advanced Irrigation Festival 2026 in Tosham, Saini detailed the development works that include a Rs 97.96 crore sewerage and water supply expansion scheme in Dinod, along with road construction projects, power infrastructure upgrades, improvements to educational facilities, and various civic amenities. The chief minister emphasized that these projects would significantly enhance the quality of life in the region.

Agricultural Initiatives and Procurement Assurance

Reiterating the government's commitment to agriculture, Saini confirmed that procurement of 24 crops at minimum support price (MSP) was being ensured across Haryana. He announced that mustard procurement had commenced on March 28, while wheat procurement would begin from April 1 with all necessary arrangements in place.

The chief minister also revealed that over the past 11 years, approximately Rs 16,160 crore had been disbursed to farmers for crop loss compensation and under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, demonstrating sustained support for the agricultural community.

Land Administration and Industrial Development

Saini announced that the proposed e-Bhoomi portal for land aggregation for the planned Industrial Model Township (IMT) in Tosham would be launched next week. He assured farmers that land acquisition would follow a consent-based process with fair compensation, addressing concerns about industrial development.

Power and Irrigation Reforms

The chief minister outlined significant power and irrigation reforms, including plans for a proposed Haryana Agri DISCOM dedicated to farm power supply. He also announced ambitious plans to reclaim 1.4 lakh acres of saline land for agricultural cultivation, potentially transforming unproductive areas into fertile farmland.

Irrigation Minister Shruti Choudhry, who was present at the event, added that the state government was investing Rs 5,700 crore in canal remodelling and Rs 450 crore for augmentation of the Ghaggar drain, highlighting the comprehensive approach to water management.

Welfare Initiatives and Employment Generation

Saini highlighted various welfare initiatives, including assistance provided under the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana. He claimed that approximately 25,000 jobs had been generated in Bhiwani district through government programs and industrial development.

Addressing Opposition Claims and Paying Tributes

During his address, the chief minister dismissed opposition claims of fuel shortages in Haryana, stating that adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG were available across the state. Earlier in the day, Saini paid floral tributes to former chief ministers Bansi Lal and Surender Singh, honoring their contributions to the state's development. He also visited an exhibition on drip irrigation, showcasing modern agricultural techniques.

The announcements come as part of the state government's broader strategy to boost infrastructure, strengthen agricultural support systems, and create employment opportunities across Haryana, with particular focus on the Tosham region's development needs.
