Harish Rao Alleges Misuse of Voter Revision Process, Urges Vigilance
Harish Rao Alleges Misuse of Voter Revision Process

Former minister and BRS deputy floor leader Harish Rao on Sunday expressed concern over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, alleging that the exercise was being misused in some parts of the country to remove voters' names.

Speaking at a meeting with party functionaries on Sunday, he said reports from different states indicated large-scale deletion of votes, which he claimed had impacted certain political parties. He urged all parties to closely monitor the polling booth-level verification process and protect voters' rights.

SIR Exercise Reintroduced After Two Decades

Harish Rao said the SIR exercise, undertaken once every two decades, has now been reintroduced in 2026 across the country. He stressed the need for Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to remain vigilant and actively participate in the process.

He pointed out that the exercise would be more challenging in urban areas such as Hanamkonda and Warangal compared to rural regions. Citing Siddipet as an example, he said family mapping had reached nearly 99% in villages, while it was only around 62% in Siddipet town, highlighting the need for better coordination.

Family Grouping Based on 2002 Rolls

He said the process involves family grouping based on 2002 electoral rolls, and warned that errors during door-to-door verification could lead to genuine voter exclusions. He urged cadre to ensure that supporters of BRS are not left out and said legal remedies were available if wrongful deletions occur.

Corruption Allegations Against Congress Government

Turning to state politics, Harish Rao alleged corruption in Gurukul schools, Singareni and road projects, and criticised the Congress government over paddy procurement claims.
