Chennai: The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has convened a meeting of its legislators on June 17, a day before the Tamil Nadu assembly session begins. The meeting will be held at the party headquarters in Chennai and will be chaired by DMK president and Chief Minister M K Stalin.
First Meeting After Elections
This will be the first gathering of DMK MLAs following the recent election results. During the meeting, Stalin is expected to brief the party legislators about the governor's customary address to the assembly and outline the response that DMK members should offer.
Previous Governor's Actions
In the previous DMK government, former Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi had sparked controversy by skipping portions of the address prepared by the state government or refusing to read it in full. He also walked out of the assembly, leading to widespread backlash from the ruling party.
DMK leaders are also expected to guide MLAs on raising various issues against the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government during the session. The meeting aims to ensure coordinated strategy and effective opposition.
