A devastating road accident near Musiri in Trichy district resulted in the tragic deaths of an elderly couple on Sunday morning. The victims, traveling on a motorcycle, were fatally struck by a truck coming from the opposite direction.

The incident occurred around 11 am on the Thathaiyangarpet to Mettupalayam road. According to police reports, M Manoharan, aged 62, and his wife M Sarasu, aged 51, were riding their motorcycle when a truck driven by N Thangaraj from Namakkal district collided with their vehicle near Thathaiyangarpet.

The impact was severe and immediate, with both Manoharan and Sarasu sustaining critical injuries. Tragically, they succumbed to their injuries at the accident site itself, leaving no opportunity for medical intervention.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

Local authorities swiftly responded to the scene, recovering the bodies and transporting them to Thuraiyur Government Hospital for postmortem examination. The remains were subsequently handed over to grieving family members on Monday.

Police have registered a formal case under Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is currently ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to this fatal collision.
