Dhanbad and Chirkunda Municipal Leaders to Take Oath on March 18
The mayor-elect and ward councillors of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC), along with the chairperson and ward councillors of the Chirkunda Municipal Council, are scheduled to take their oaths of office on March 18 at the district headquarters. This significant event marks a crucial step in the local governance process for these municipalities in Jharkhand.
Detailed Election Schedule for Deputy Mayor and Vice-Chairperson
Following the oath-taking ceremony, the election process for the deputy mayor of the Dhanbad Municipal Corporation and the vice-chairperson of the Chirkunda Municipal Council will commence as per a meticulously planned timetable. The filing of nomination papers is set to occur from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on the same day.
Scrutiny of these nomination papers will be conducted from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm, after which a list of valid candidates will be prepared between 1 pm and 1:30 pm. Candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw their nominations between 1:30 pm and 1:45 pm.
Voting and Results Timeline
Preparations for ballot papers will take place from 1:45 pm to 2:15 pm. Voting for the posts of deputy mayor and vice-chairperson will be held from 2:15 pm to 3 pm, allowing councillors to cast their votes in a structured manner.
The counting of votes is scheduled from 3 pm to 3:15 pm, followed by the declaration of results and issuance of election certificates between 3:15 pm and 3:30 pm. The oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected deputy mayor and vice-chairperson will then be conducted between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm, completing the day's electoral activities.

Notably, BJP leader and former Jharia MLA Sanjeev Singh will take oath as the Mayor of Dhanbad, adding a prominent political figure to the municipal leadership. In addition, councillors elected from 55 wards will participate in the oath ceremony, ensuring broad representation across the constituencies.
